Providing drug education presentations to 6th, 7th and 8th graders in Pinellas County Florida, using the Truth About Drugs program from the Foundation for a Drug-Free World.

The Teach-In opens classrooms to workers from all sorts of occupations to teach children about specific jobs and duties and the importance of education in their professional and personal lives. This year, 52 Pinellas schools were scheduled to host Teach-In volunteers.

In addition to the judge and the drummer mentioned in the article above, students throughout the county were exposed to occupations ranging from law enforcement officers and emergency workers to dog trainers, cake decorators, sports coaches and more.

In our 4th year of participation, our CES for a Drug Free World team visited Dunedin Middle School for a day of presenting true drug education to approximately 80 students.

Patrick Clouden, CEO, vows to help keep kids off of harmful drugs, and so has appointed Lynn Posyton, CES Director of Community Relations, to work in the community and help with this mission.

“What could be more rewarding than working to provide the facts and true stories of drug use and abuse, so that children come away empowered with the facts about harmful drugs?…Nothing!” according to Lynn.

“Drugs are poisons which overwhelm the person and make them different. Their choices and emotions and perceptions become altered and then life becomes tough for themselves and all around them. Educating our youth is crucial for their success in life.

Drugs rob an individual of his happiness and so we must debunk the myths and false hype concerning drugs. This program, The Truth About Drugs, which CES sponsors, does just that!”
